Goal
Visual identity for Berlin Psycho Nurses (柏林护士) — a Changsha post-punk five-piece — carrying their second-album cycle: vinyl, gig posters, merch, ticket stubs, social, and the live backdrop. It had to sit on an aesthetic already coded in noise rock and new wave, pulling from Joy Division and NEU! at once.
Challenge
The band’s music sits between two registers — wry gangster-persona confidence on the upbeats, darker mental-health introspection underneath — and the brand had to do both. It also had to scale from a 5cm ticket stub to a four-meter festival projection without feeling stitched together, and stay specific to the band rather than borrowing the usual Western post-punk visuals.
Outcome
A single graphic system — one crystal mark, four flat inks — that powers gig posters, merch, social, and live visuals, scaled from a ticket stub to a meter-tall poster wall without one asset breaking. It is now load-bearing for every show and release in the cycle.
The system pivots on one element: a crystal-explosion mark, generated as a 3D radial burst, posterised to two inks and printed flat. The wordmark sits behind it, gets pierced by it, gets bisected by it. The mark mutates between releases — same DNA, different fracture — so every poster carries its own variant of the same symbol.

The system
- A crystal mark — half shattered glass, half medical asterisk
- Four flat inks: signal red, surgical cyan, void black, paper white
- A heavy condensed grotesque wordmark, pierced by the mark
- Italic monospace captions — the band’s timestamp on the world
The brand runs on a short list of non-negotiables. Anything outside the four inks is treated as an error; legibility is a goal, not a tyranny; and every layout is tested at a third-generation Risograph copy — if it survives the degradation, it ships.

Six rules
- One symbol, many fractures
- Four inks, no gradients
- Display covers content — visibility sacrificed on purpose
- Mono captions everywhere · built for the photocopier
- Vinyl is canonical — every surface is a crop of the sleeve
The one system carries every surface in the cycle — vinyl sleeves, A1/A3 gig posters, flyers and ticket stubs, merch runs, social templates, and the live-show backdrop loop — all derived from the master sleeve artwork, none of it breaking formation.

Carried across
- Vinyl sleeves (12" + 7"), center label, dust sleeve
- Gig poster series (A1 + A3) + flyer & ticket system
- Merch, tote, lanyard, accreditation
- Social templates + live-show backdrop loop
